Application and use

The specially developed surface of HERMAlaser sheet offers optimal printability and toner keying with all xerographic printing processes. Label sheets are suitable for large laser printers, desktop laser printers, copiers and a great number of inkjet printers.

We recommend production from narrow reels width 217 mm or width 434 mm for double-width production (original edges of the semi-finished rolls should not be adopted for sheetstock). A possible curl in machine direction (especially towards the cores) may be adjusted by a "decurl bar" in the press. Water based inks may have an adverse influence on the flatness of the sheet stock. We therefore advise against use of water based inks especially when printing large areas. Furthermore the paper is certified with the EU-Ecolabel (EU-Flower).

The pulp for this paper comes from FSC certified forest management and other controlled sources. 

Adhesive 42N is suitable for applications requiring medium tack combined with good removability. It is particularly suited for labelling surfaces like cardboard, PE-Films and steel. Removability may be impaired if applied on certain surface coated materials.Adhesive 42N features excellent resistance to light, heat and ageing.

This coated kraft liner has been designed for production of label sheets for copiers and laser printers. The reverse of the paper assures excellent processing characteristics, i.e. high friction combined with high abrasion resistance. Adhesive 62D is a universally applicable permanent adhesive. It has a wide range of applications including high-quality industrial labels. It is suited for labelling rough but not extremely curved surfaces and is highly resistant to light, heat and ageing. Typical areas of application for this coated kraft liner are computer labels for laser printers (continuous or sheet stock), which require higher stiffness.

Processing

Excellent die-cutting characteristics on all customary machines. HERMA KW (512) was designed for sheeting. It is less suitable for conversions where waste-stripping is involved. As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA KW (527) offers good die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary label cutters.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is one year from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

The paper is approved according to the Recommendation XXXVI. This paper grade according to the sample material submitted may be used safely for food packaging. It may stand in direct contact with dry and fatty foodstuffs. (ISEGA Research and Development Institute, Aschaffenburg)

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 42N can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for storage at room temperature and below. It may be used in direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011. (Declaration of no objection valid until 11.09.2026)

The paper complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI.

All ingredients of adhesive 62D comply with recommendation BfR XIV or FDA 21 CFR 175.105 (Adhesives).

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 62D can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for storage at room temperature and below. It may be used in direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 4 in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011. Furthermore, the adhesive may be used for laminating various materials. In this case, cut edge contact with food is harmless as far as the above mentioned adhesive is concerned. It must be ensured that the relevant migration limits are complied with by the laminated packaging (Declaration of no objection valid until 21.04.2025).

Furthermore the self-adhesive labels with the adhesive 62D can be used for labelling of blood bags (Expert's Opinion from April 15, 2021).
