Application and use

Thanks to its special surface treatment the glossy surface of HERMA PP 50 transparent tc offers an excellent printing quality in all conventional printing methods like e.g. UV flexographic printing. The primer on the back ensures perfect anchorage of the adhesive. In combination with the appropriate adhesive, this product is perfect for applications where the removability of the label is required. This film is not intended for use in unprinted zigzag applications, in which the coated print surface is in contact with itself.

HERMA PP 50 transparent tc is perfect for the production of optically demanding, glossy transparent labels. It is particularly suitable for labelling cosmetic products, cleaning agents etc., as well as for applications demanding resistance to chemicals or weather.

The PSA 63Mps is characterized by an extraordinary high tack. Even on critical surfaces tack level is very high. 63Mps suits therefore outstandingly for high-speed dispensing, also on in cool conditions. In combination with thin face materials it demonstrates very good mandrel-hold and is therefore suitable for labelling of items with small diameter. Once labelled 63Mps is highly waterproof. The supercalendered glassine is perfectly suited for assignment in labelling machines equipped with optical or mechanical scanners.

Processing

Excellent die-cutting characteristics on all customary machines. As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA PW (517) offers excellent die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary die-cutting tools.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is two years from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

The label film HERMA PP 50 transparent tc complies with the legal requirements or recommendations of Regulation (EC) no. 1935/2004 and (EU) no. 10/2011 and subsequent amendments up to Regulation (EC) no. 2020/1245 on plastics and articles intended to come into contact with food as well as of Regulation (EC) no. 2023/2006 on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.

All ingredients of adhesive 63Mps comply with recommendation BfR XIV or FDA 21 CFR 175.105 (Adhesives).

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 63Mps can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for storage at room temperature and below. It may be used in direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 2 in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011. Furthermore, the adhesive may be used for laminating various materials. In this case, cut edge contact with food is harmless as far as the above mentioned adhesive is concerned. It must be ensured that the relevant migration limits are complied with by the laminated packaging (Declaration of no objection valid until 14.12.2025).

Furthermore the self-adhesive labels with the adhesive 63Mps can be used for labelling of blood bags (Expert's Opinion from December 16, 2021).

The paper liner complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI.
