HERMAcoat recycling with 100 % recycled fibre is a sustainable and versatile label paper for multicolour printing. The natural white, semi-gloss coated surface of HERMAcoat recycling offers good print quality with all conventional printing methods. Thermal transfer printing is also possible, pre-testing is recommended. Due to the recycled fiber the paper has low tensile strength, which is why the production speed should not be too high.
The ecological advantage of recycled paper is mainly due to the significantly reduced water and energy requirements in fibre preparation and the elimination of long transport routes for primary fibres.
The face paper has the "Blue Angel" ecolabel.
Adhesive 42Upp is a microsphere based adhesive. Suitable for applications requiring medium tack combined with excellent removability. It is particularly suited for labelling smooth objects like books, glass or metals. However, adhesion of 42Upp is suboptimal on rough or extremely curved surfaces. Adhesive 42Upp is unplasticized and features good resistance to light, temperature and ageing. Face material, shape of the label, service conditions and contact time may have an impact on removability profile. Tests of the printed label under actual application conditions are strongly recommended. The supercalendered glassine is perfectly suited for assignment in labelling machines equipped with optical or mechanical scanners.Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.
The shelf life is one year from date of production.
The paper complies with recommendations BfR XXXVI for dry food. It may stand in direct contact with dry, non-fatty foodstuffs and such kind of foodstuffs which are peeled, shelled or washed before consumption. For dry, non-fatty foodstuffs with large surfaces, the migration of volatile and hydrophobic substances via the gas phase has to be considered particularly. This could be ensured by the use of an appropriate interemediate packaging. (ISEGA Research and Development Institute, Aschaffenburg)
